Assessment Report: Gaia-X Compliance Status
Hee Kim (LIH) and Maximilian Fünfgeld (LIH)

This document assesses the Gaia-X compliance status of the Dataspace4Health ecosystem. It reviews the current DS4H implementation against the Gaia-X Trust Framework and identifies the gaps to move from Gaia-X Standard Compliance under the Tagus release toward Gaia-X Label Level 1 under the Danube release. The assessment focuses on legal participant onboarding, regulatory alignment, and technical credential evolution. It highlights two main areas for improvement: stronger alignment with European regulations such as GDPR, EHDS, DGA, AI Act, and MDR, and the technical transition from JSON-LD-based credentials to JWT-based verifiable credentials. By addressing these gaps, DS4H aims to strengthen trust, interoperability, and long-term sustainability as a secure healthcare data ecosystem.
